Essex High Seriff Award Results
Hawkwell Athletic received recognition for their work with volunteers in the local community at this years High Seriffs Awards Ceremony held at the Fennes Estate in Bocking, Braintree.
The event was a classy affair with at least six of the county's Mayors and/or Mayoresses in attendance, but of course they were slightly outdone by the arival of the Hawkwell Athletic crew of Charlie Twydell, Terry Scudder, Steve Dowding, Craig Leverington, Rick Webb and Geoff Smith!
The category of 'Recognising work with volunteers in the community' was the most competetive category with 63 nominations being put forward. Of the 63 nominations, we were included in the shortlist for the top award with eight other volunteer based organisations. Interestingly, we were the only sport based organisation to reach the short list.
Unfortunately we did not win the top spot for this award which eventualy went to the very deserving 'Colchester & Tiptree Toy Library.
